Hey, Sports Fans! Haroon Rashid, Khemeia Marketing!  And welcome to Haroon's Hangout where we make online marketing, social media and SEO simple, straight forward and fun! Today we're going to be talking about how to make money online. And that's how to make money online, how to make money through your website, how to make money through Facebook, how to make money through your blog, how to make money through Twitter etc.

Diving straight in. Number one, make it all about your customer. No matter where you're writing - on your website, on Facebook or on Twitter, or your blog, don't make it about you. That's what the natural tendency is, it's to try and talk about you. How long you've been established, where your office is based. People don't really care about that. They are online selfishly. The truth is that not many people care about you. And as harsh as that sounds, they actually care about themselves. When you're going online what do you do? You're looking for an answer.  


And that brings me onto point number two.  Solve your customers' problems and needs.  OK. You're customers are after an answer.  They're looking for something. And usually it's because they have a problem or a need that needs solving - whether it is up to date news around the world, whether it's the latest score of their favourite sports team, whether it's the latest movie trailer, whether it's where to find the cheapest pair of shoes - they are after something that is going to solve that problem or need. They don't really care about you at the outset but they want to know, "Can you solve my problem or need?"


Number three, once you know what problems and needs you are solving - for your customers, you need to create good content. People hate online brochure websites; people hate Facebook pages that don't do anything; people hate Twitter accounts that don't tweet! OK, make good content and that's videos, blog posts, podcasts, eBooks, you know, Google Hangouts like you're watching now! People want to consume content. Not everybody likes a video, but they may read your blog post. Not everybody likes podcasts but they may check you out on a Google Hangout. Make it varied. Find out what your customers like and then create good content.


And number four, finally, implement consistently. OK. I have met so many people who have great and wonderful ideas but they don't do anything and they're just still stuck in the same place. Make a start.  The journey of a thousand steps begins with - sorry! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Whew! Got that one out in the end! (Laughs) Try things out.  You will make mistakes but you know, learn from those mistakes, refine your approach and keep on at it.
